Sex Offender Group Therapy
Advanced Sex Offender Group Therapy

To access DVFPS evaluative and treatment services for these client populations a criminal justice professional would e-mail (DVFPS @ aol.com), fax (215-489-0963) or post (25 E. State Street, Suite 201) referral materials to the DVFPS offices in Doylestown, PA.

Referral materials would minimally include a statement of the charges, description of the offense, a court order, client’s personal information, their sentence and any special conditions or commitments to specific programs.

Sex offender therapy as done by DVFPS professionals is a rigorous two-step outpatient program. At a minimum, it requires receipt of a comprehensive referral package, a pre-admission interview, an admission of guilt, weekly attendance and active participation in-group. Frequently, supplemental individual therapy sessions are required. Further, a client must satisfactorily complete two polygraph examinations. Lastly, the possibility exists that other sex offense specific testing may be required.

Domestic Violence Psychoeducational Groups

The DVFPS Batterer’s Intervention Program approach was inspired by our local county and commonwealth task forces, which were empanelled to look at the causes and remediation of domestic interpersonal violence. Weekly group therapy sessions with licensed or certified professionals are the primary treatment modality. DVFPS clinicians operate from a philosophy that batterer’s often seek to dominate and control their victims while simultaneously discouraging them from seeking help by blaming them for their own victimization. DVFPS clinicians are keenly aware of the potential dangers that some of our client’s present to the intimate others they seek to dominate. DVFPS clinicians come with specialized training in the area of domestic violence and a working knowledge of the juvenile and criminal justice fields. The batterer’s intervention program runs for a minimum of 26 weeks for mandated clients.

Anger Management Groups

The DVFPS anger management curriculum begins with the premise that mandated clients are likely to resist change. Understanding that, clients are urged to make a commitment to reduce the use of force in their lives while learning more productive and pro-social alternatives to violence. The process begins with education, followed by honest self-disclosure and a willingness to practice new behaviors. The program runs for 26 weeks. Homework assignments are routinely given.
